Notes: Reprint edition. Originally published in 1987 by Northwestern State University Press (Natchitoches, LA). IF Sibley (1816-1886) had succeeded in his campaign to capture the Colorado gold fields the Civil War “might” have had a different outcome. IF the Confederacy had had a competent commander… and if wishes were horses we’d all ride. Sibley–nice guy, couldn’t pour piss from a boot. Thompson is an excellent storyteller.
