Notes: I don’t know who designed this reprint, but on the top of the cover is “The Battle of Glorieta Pass” which would lead one to think THAT was the title, but NOOOO, the “title” on the cover says “THE Colorado Volunteers…” and the title on the half-title and full-title pages says “Colorado Volunteers….” That’s just bad editing and bad (confusing) design. Originally published in 1906, by “The State Historical and Natural History Society.” (Denver). There’s a lot more political history in this retelling of the Battle of Glorieta Pass–how the South really intended to split off the western territories, and how they intended to either buy or use force to acquire the states of Sonora, Chihuahua, and Baja California from the Mexican government. Lots of “what if…?”
