Yes. I’ve purchased libraries and collections from more than twenty-five archaeologists and
libraries. I also accept consignments. I pay by check or cash.

My main areas of interest are the archaeology of the Four Corners—New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah-- the Great Basin, Texas, Mexico, Native American (same areas), ceramics, rock art, and general archaeology.

Other areas I’m interested in are New Mexico and southwestern history, nature, beekeeping, and non-fiction authors like Wendell Berry, John McPhee, E.O.
Wilson, Gary Paul Nabhan, et al. I’ll buy libraries or partial libraries from working scholars, or hard-core book collectors.

Condition is important—do you underline, highlight, annotate?

I’m not interested in journals, National Geographics, magazines, tourist brochures, most pamphlets. I don’t want encyclopedias. I have shelves of old Bureau of American Ethnology reports—they don’t sell. I don’t want them. Fiction and photography are not high on my list. Books outside of those areas mentioned in “What Books Do You Buy” are not my areas of interest, but if they come as parts of a complete library then we’ll talk. Books I don’t want to keep or offer for sale I
donate to the Albuquerque Public Library for their monthly used book sales. Damaged
books—loose pages, broken bindings—are recycled.

My preference is to see the books in person, but I’ll work with photos and lists. I’m available to travel to check out your books, but only within the Four Corners states, plus Texas, Oklahoma, and California. If you want me to take everything, that can be arranged. If you want me to cherry pick I can do that as well. I’ll provide a receipt for your sale. If I buy your books in person I’ll do all the packing and loading.

Mostly I buy when I have the space. It breaks my heart to turn down a good library, but if I
don’t have a place for the books then I’m not a book seller, I’m just a hoarder.

To be honest, you’ll be surprised at the wholesale value of used books. Two of my first questions to you will be “How many books do you think you have?” and “How much do you think your books are worth?” If you think you’re going to fund your retirement by selling your library, you’re mistaken. I’m a book dealer. I make my profit between what I pay you and what
I can sell the books for. I’ll offer a fair price, based on the contents of the library. the number of books, their condition, and how well they fit in my areas of specialization. My goal is for you to say “That was a good deal for both of us.”
