William Henry Johnson, a World War I Medal of Honor winner) covers almost 198,000 acres in west-central Louisiana, served as home to the 5th Infantry Division during the Viet Nam era, and now is home to to the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, 115th Combat Support Hospital, U.S. Army Garrison and Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital. . Almost 1700 archaeological sites were identified in the 15 years prior to this report’s publication, and 100 underwent extensive testing or excavation. Historic preservation planning when you’ve got to work around infantry, armor, and artillery. Take it as a guidebook.
