Notes: Seeley was explaining the obvious to beekeepers when he wrote this volume. One bee finds x (nectar, pollen, water, space), she returns to the hive to communicate information to her sisters, and one becomes two and two becomes ten and ten becomes lots and a movement is born and the hive goes on. Democracy in action, insect style. Especially when it comes to swarming–a hive’s natural means of expanding. Includes a discussion of building a bait hive for swarms. Includes ephemera from the beekeeper’s meeting where the previous owner met the author. Since its publication this has become a classic in beekeeping literature.
