Condition: Book: Fair to Good.  Binding tight.  No marks, tears, bends or folds.  Very light edge and corner wear.  Dust Jacket: Fair.  NOT price clipped (no price indicated).   The front flap edge is worn, top to bottom, with a small chip at the upper edge.  Spine head worn, chipped.  Upper rear cover edge has a couple of small tears, about 4″ apart.   Upper rear cover corner has an area of wear (scuffing?).  Three small spots on rear cover.  Rear cover flap edge worn.

Notes:  Originally published in France in 1903.  Monsignor Granjon became Bishop of Tucson in 1900.  His territory included southwestern New Mexico, which he had never visited and knew nothing about.  His “pastoral visit” included Mesilla, Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Tularosa, and El Paso.  This is his translated journal of that visit.  “Granjon was not subtle in his contempt for what he termed the ‘white’ changes that were occurring throughout his diocese.  He used the terms ‘whites,’ ‘Protestants,’ ‘Anglo-Saxons,’ and ‘Americans’ interchangeably.  One senses a certain paranoia in Granjon, possibly as a result of the influence that Protestants had on the American educational system.”  (From the Introduction)  Daily life and family customs.
