Notes: Begins with a brief history of New Mexico (Folsom quickly moves to Chaco and it’s off to the races), early Spanish New Mexico territory (1598, twenty-two years before Jamestown), then into education, banking, the judicial system, an appreciation of the cattle, sheep, and goat industries, agriculture, forestry, Indians (“Their Industries and Products”), hunting, fishing, religion, cities and towns (even 5 chapters on El Paso, Texas), and on to notable citizens.  There’s just a potful of information, as you might expect from an encyclopedia, in these 2070-plus pages, plus Index.  From the library of the late archaeologist Al Schroeder.
