Using modern weather records and paleoenvironmental data from throughout the region, a series of spatial zones are identified which form a framework for comparisons of archaeological material. These zones are primarily tied to differences in rainfall and temperature which impact plant and animal production.  These spatial zones are used as frames of reference against which I consider patterns in over 500 radiocarbon dated features and structures, 451 obsidian artifacts dated by hydration, and the grinding  surface area of 771 manos.” (from the Preface)
