Notes: Originally published in 1986, we should have seen this book as the canary in the coal mine of western water problems, even though by then we were already in the midst of them. Now, deep in a megadrought, this is 20/20 hindsight. John Wesley Powell saw it coming, Reisner reported it, WE ignored it. An extraordinary read.
