Notes: Okay, Pop Quiz: Which states do you think make the most from their public lands/state trust lands?  Ready?  1: Washington (state)–timber and land sales earn the bulk of the state’s money, more than double the next…2: Texas.  Why are we not surprised?  And 3:  New Mexico.   Both of these are directly related to oil extraction in the Permian Basin.  This has all the hallmarks of a revised dissertation, except it’s too big.  From the library of the late environmentalist  Dave Foreman.
