Description

Author: None specified (and it’s doubtful “Corporate”)

Publisher: The Térma Company (Santa Fe, NM)

Pub Date: 1992

Binding: Paperback (stiff board folio)

Condition: Good.  Each of the 6 individual books in the package are in good condition.  Bindings tight.  No marks, tears, bends or folds.  Folio: Fair to Good.  Some scuffing to side edge of the folio/box.  Does not affect any of the books.

Notes: This appears to be a one-off piece, with very little commercial purpose.  An environmental/quasi-philosophical/spiritual/self-help labor of love (funded by?).  Some analogies–Ram Dass’s Be Here Now, Joseph Campbell’s The Power of Myth.  Six 9½” x 9½”, 36 page booklets (see photos, first and last volumes have more pages), but I’m unsure of any specific order.  The Four Directions form the backbone of the idea–four volumes entitled North, South, East, West–with an Introduction volume and an Ecocide volume.   OCLC lists the volume order as East, South, North and West, with additional volumes at beginning and end. Philosophy, religion, art, self-help in a helluva package.  The folio is a heavier cardboard stock, folding to include the books.  LOTS of money spent on design and content.   This is like something you’d find in one of the old Whole Earth Catalogs (still got some).   The Térma Company, not to be confused with the Danish aerospace and weapons manufacturer, produced this one item and disappeared by 1993.  No statement of edition or print run.  RARE.  Only held in two libraries.
