Notes: “This study was initiated in hopes of obtaining a detailed and continuous record of vegetational changes during the last two thousand year or longer in the Four Corners region of the Colorado Plateau that could be directly compared to the local archaeological record…The first stage of this study included pollen analysis of a 10,000-year C-14 dated sequence from Twin Lakes, 250m (800ft) below the upper limit of spruce (Picea engelmannii). This record provided a history of past summer temperatures interpreted from fluctuations of the temperature sensitive upper tree line.” (Page 7) As the climate changed the area available for farming changed.
