Notes:  Iliff and her husband were teachers at Indian schools (read boarding schools), but they lived with the Walapai and Havasupai.  She was later named as a “superintendent” of the Havasupai, “given complete charge” of the tribe.  Anecdote and personal interest stories.  A little light on the anthropology.  From the looks of Iliff’s photo, she looked like a stern taskmaster.
