Description
Author: Stevenson, James
Publisher: Smithsonian Institution
Pub Date: 1884
Binding: Paperback
Condition: Fair. Binding tight. No marks, folds. This is another paper I extracted from a copy of the Third annual report of the Bureau of Ethnology, 1881-1882 that was falling apart. I had the paper rebound, with a new paper cover and title sheet. Upper corner of the title page is missing an approx. 1″ triangular piece. The last page of this 83 page report has several bends and an approx. 2″ tear to the upper corner. There are diminishing bends to the upper corners of the last few pages.
Notes: I think it’s being polite to call this an “Illustrated Catalogue” of the collections obtained from the pueblos of Zuñi and Wolpi (now Walpi). It’s primarily a list of all the artifacts and cultural materials (pottery, textiles, tools, ceremonial items) collected by Stevenson and his wife, with some descriptions of the items, but it does have their Zuñi and Hopi language equivalents with the items. There are only five illustrations for the almost 5000 items listed.
