Description
Author: Kaufman, Fred S. (1902-1976)
Publisher: North Plains Press
Pub Date: 1971
Binding: Hardcover
Condition: Book: Fair. Binding tight. No tears, bends or folds. Previous owner’s name and gift inscription on upper corner ffep. Some edge and corner wear. Binding very slightly cocked. Dust Jacket: Fair: Price clipped. Edge wear–small chips, tears–to front and rear upper edge. Some fading at front flap edge and front spine edge. Smudges to rear cover. There is a caption for a frontispiece, but no frontispiece. There are no missing pages, so this looks to be a printer fault.
Notes: Custer really plays a minor role in this book until near the end (I guess if you’ve got to have a climax, the Battle of the Little Big Horn would work). It’s a long road from Germany, through Chicago (including a bit about the Chicago Fire of 1871), the building of railroads across the plains, the weather, fur trapping, Indians, and the Seventh Cavalry arrives in Chapter 12. Chatty. Stories from Dad.
