The Sans Arc were one of seven tribal divisions of the Teton Sioux, including the Brules, Oglalas, Miniconjous, Two Kettles, Sihsapa (Blackfoot Sioux), and Hunkpapa. Their tribal leadership was divided into three parallel branches–civil, military and ceremonial. The Sioux ranged over all of South Dakota, Nebraska to the Platte River valley, and eastern Wyoming.
