Notes:  2 volume set.  Volume 1: 1689-1900.  Volume 2: 1900-1953.  Introductory letter by Dwight D. Eisenhower.   Volume 1 covers pre-Revolutionary through the Spanish American War (3 pages.  Big whoop), with the Civil War as the bulk of the volume (no pun intended).   Volume 2 covers World War I, World War II, and the Korean War.    Volume 2 covers Germany’s and Japan’s offensives prior to Pearl Harbor, and seemingly short-shrift to Korea (though more than 3 pages).   The start of operations/campaigns (D-Day, e.g.) have nice, concise, easy to read maps for the start of campaigns, and become more complicated thereafter.  It’s a really good basic history of America’s wars, illustrated by lots of maps.   From the library of the late archaeologist Al Schroeder.  SOLD AS A SET ONLY.  Bring a small boy with you to help you carry it home.
