Notes: Geological Survey Bulletin 1347.  Booklet, 92 pages.  The Yellowstone we know today was formed by a volcanic eruption approximately 600,000 years ago, and glaciers approximately 300,000 years ago.  Great explanation of the Yellowstone volcanic activity (if the Yellowstone mega-volcano erupted today the effects would be catastrophic and global).  Well-illustrated–black-and-white and color photos, lots of diagrams, maps.  As close to “Roadside Geology of Yellowstone” as we’re likely to get.
