Condition: Copy 1 (DU) Fair.  Stapled binding tight.  No tears, folds.  Upper front cover corner at spine head has a paper-clip indentation, extends through entire volume.  Lower front cover corner has a very small fold and wear.  Excised from 1929 issue of National Geographic magazine.  No covers.   Illustrated by black-and-white photos, and one map.   This is the original printing.   Copy 2 (LC21): Fair.  Stapled binding tight.  No marks, tear, folds.  Both lower corners worn, slightly bent (dropped twice, once on each corner).  Smudging to rear cover.  This is a facsimile reprint of the original.

Notes: Pamphlet.  Douglass was an astronomer by training, and discovered a correlation between sun spot activity and tree rings, which led to the founding of the fields of dendrochronology and dendroarchaeology.  Douglass led this Nat Geo expedition to date Pueblo Bonito, and the expedition dated 40 other pueblo ruins, creating a thousand year timeline.
