Notes: Bureau of Land Management Cultural Resource Series Monograph 2. There were 27 Pony Express (and Overland Mail Service) stations in Utah. The BLM currently oversees 8 stations in Utah, as well as stations in other states. This monograph was not an archaeological survey only, but a historical survey as well, conducted as part of the 1976 Bicentennial. Stations are named, mapped (as best as possible), some with period photos, others with current photos. Riders for the Pony Express in Utah are named, as well as construction details for the stations, and some station keepers named.
