Condition: Fair to Good.  Binding tight.  No tears, folds.  Upper front cover corner has a a very small bend and edge wear on that corner.  Lower front cover corner has slight wear.  One approx. 1/4″ line on upper rear cover, near spine head, but I think it’s just a mark in the cover (printer fault?).  Totally cosmetic.  Very light edge and corner wear.  Appears unused.

Notes: Historic and Natural Resources Report No. 9.  Another volume in MacNeish’s decades-long attempt to find the origins of maize, this time in southern New Mexico and west Texas.  Excavations in Todsen Rockshelter, Tornillo Rockshelter, North Mesa, Fresnal Shelter, La Cueva, and various Organ Mountain sites near Las Cruces, NM.  “We faced a twofold problem: We sought to define the Archaic period and to identify the development of village agriculture from the Archaic to the Ceramic periods.  A reliable sequence needed to include crucial data about changing subsistence systems as well as other factors of the culture system that had caused the development of agriculture.”  (From the Introduction)  VERY RARE.  NO other copies available for sale.
