Condition: Fair.  Stapled binding tight.  No folds.  Previous owner’s name on upper front cover edge.  Upper front cover edge missing a small triangular (approx. 1/8″ x 1/8″ x1/8″) chip.  A second chip along upper front cover edge has an approx. 1/8″ tear, with accompanying bend.  Lower front cover corner at spine foot missing an approx. 1/4″ piece.  Edge and corner wear.

Notes: Pamphlet.  Offprint.  Originally published in American Anthropologist Vol 19, No. 1, 1917.  Peabody describes a small bird bone flageolet (“no reed but with a vent-hole which catches the breath on its outer edge and gives a whistling sound” (Page 31) found in a grave at Pecos.  Peabody was the son of Robert Peabody, founder of the Peabody Museum, and a European archaeologist.  From the library of the late anthropologist John Otis Brew, his signature on cover.
