Reversing the usual Mexico City to Santa Fe route, Jackson starts in Santa Fe with a side trip to San Juan Pueblo and the Española valley, Juan de Oñate’s original “capital”, and travels south through Mexico. Highway numbers, mileage, rest areas and overnight accommodations, areas of interest give this the guidebook feel. Lots of black-and-white photographs, lots of nicely detailed maps (courtesy of Jackson, the geographer).
