Notes: Conference papers. The “entradas” (entries) by Pánfilo de Narváez and Alvar Núñez Cabez de Vaca (between 1527-1537), Fray Marcos de Niza and Francisco Vásquez de Coronado (1539-1542), and Hernando de Soto and Luis de Moscoso (1539-1543) were crucial to the spreading of information and images of the new lands of North America. In their own ways, these were like looking at maps of the moon today. I like the font size in this volume, but I dislike the black-and-white maps (though there is a color section of maps) used throughout. Color maps, even at a smaller size, would have improved this volume immensely.
