Notes:  The Colorado Plateau covers and area of about 130,000 square miles through the Four Corners states.  The first portion of the book covers most of the northern monuments, under the heading “The Land”–Dinosaur down to Glen Canyon, then down into Arizona for the Painted Desert and Grand Canyon.  The second section moves into the southern and eastern monuments–Mesa Verde, Chaco, Canyon de Chelly, Aztec Ruins–but is divided into Anasazi, Sinagua, and Fremont.  The final section covers El Morro, Pipe Spring, and Hubbell Trading Post.  All color photography.  This was probably sold in every gift shop throughout the region.   Think, in Abbey’s words, “rock and sun.”
