Notes: Originally begun as Herner’s master’s thesis. Memoirs, personal letters, official records and interviews with the 6 (at the time) surviving Rough Riders.  The Spanish-American War began April 25, 1898, with the declaration of war, and ended in mid-September 1898, with the capitulation of Spain.  Three years later, Theodore Roosevelt was President, and Alexander Brodie (who had served with General Crook) the commander of the Arizona regiment, was Territorial Governor of Arizona.  First paperback reprint of the 1970 hardcover  (see https://joethebookguy.com/shop/memoir/the-arizona-rough-riders/ )
