Condition: 4 copies.  Copy 1: Fair to Good.  Original 1936 edition, not UNM Press reprint or Print on Demand. Cover designed by Merle Armitage.  Binding taped. Slight chipping and bumping to cover. This is a used book, no question about it.  Copy 2 (SR): Fair to Good.  Binding tight, but chipping at head and foot of spine.  Front hinge starting to separate at head and foot (approx. 1/2″ either way)  Rear of the paper cover has approx. 1½-2″ triangular chip at top hinge.  Smudging all over.  Some pencil markings.  FFEP clipped (Really?  You couldn’t just erase?)  Copy 3(FL): Fair.  Binding tight but slightly cocked.  Previous owner’s name, date, and location on ffep.  Edge wear to upper front cover, including 2 small tears (each approx. 1/2″)  Wear to lower front cover, including smudging.  Now in mylar.  Copy 4 (D): Fair.  Binding tight, but wearing near spine head.  No folds.  Something (name? price?) has been white-outed (about the size of a quarter) near upper corner ffep. Upper front and rear cover edges have numerous chips, slight tears.  Spine head worn, chipped.  Signed by the author on title page.  Smudging to rear cover.  Now in mylar.

Notes: Memoirs of the Laboratory of Anthropology Volume 1.  Errata slip laid in in Copy 1. Errata slip states author’s dissatisfaction regarding certain color plates. Apparently the first three printings were not distributed due to the problem, but this printing was finally released by the Laboratory of Anthropology.  Copies 2, 3, and 4 are the second edition, revised, published in 1953.  Copy 4 is signed by Chapman above the title (see photo).
