After the battle, the force was disbanded, but later reconstituted when Brigadier General James Carleton realized he didn’t have enough force to control southern Arizona, particularly fighting the Apache. Two companies of New Mexico volunteers were sent to southern Arizona, to Fort Bowie and Fort Goodwin. Company rosters, deaths, disabilities, desertions.
