The Mayo maintain a number of different groups within their society, all related in complex ways. A native variation of the Catholic religion, cults centered around various saints, clubs, organizations, residence groups, kinship organizations, and ritual or historical kinships. Authority–judicial, religious, economic–is either heirarchical (clubs, organizations), electoral, or familial. How these groups interact (or don’t). I think this needs a “relationship tree” or a Venn diagram of some kind. Pretty complex.
