Notes: Pamphlet.  Museum of Northern Arizona Bulletin 6.  Colton was an academically trained, and award winning, artist prior to her marriage to Harold Colton.  She advocates here for art education in both public and Indian schools, using traditional methods and materials (vegetable dyes, e.g., rather than commercial ones).  She urges cooperation with the Indian Bureau (now the BIA) in “…teaching Indian children their own arts in their own environments, and, where possible, native teachers…” (Page 32).  Also advocates the establishment of “school museums.”
