Notes: Betanzos was the best Quechua interpreter and translator of his time. This narrative is based on oral histories of the descendants of Inca kings who remembered the traditions and stories of their ancestors. It is divided into two parts–prior to the Spanish arrival, and after the conquest, from the Inca view, to 1557. This is the first complete translation of the original 82 chapter manuscript.
