Description
Editor: Swanson, Earl H. Jr. (1927-1975)
Publisher: Idaho State University Museum
Pub Date: 1968
Binding: Paperback
Condition: 2 copies. Copy 1 (LC): Poor to Fair. Binding tight but wearing. Lower front cover corner has water mark on cover, but doesn’t extend to pages. Lower front cover corner and first 4 pages of text worn, bending. Head and foot of spine each have approx. 1″ tears at rear spine edge. Upper rear corner missing approx. 2″ x 2″ piece. Lower rear corner and last 3 or 4 pages bent. Smudging to bottom text block. In spite of its faults I think this is a better copy than Copy 2. Sorry, Copy 2. Copy 2 (JR): Poor to Fair. Stapled binding tight, but wearing. Missing spine cover. All corners worn, torn. Upper corners of the first 19 or 20 pages have varying degrees of bends. Some kind of spot to rear spine edge near spine head. One pen mark to lower rear cover (looks like a large J). Inscribed by one of the authors of a paper on upper front cover corner.
Notes: Occasional Papers of the Idaho State University Museum, Number 22. Conference papers of 1966. “Utaztekan” (or if you prefer “Uto-Aztecan”) speakers range from the Numic (Shoshonean) Indians written of by John Wesley Powell to the Hopi, Tarahumara, Paiute, Tanoan, Kiowan, Mayan and the Huichol. How did they spread? What was the basis for their customs? “We just don’t know what went on, linguistically speaking, in the Great Basin before the Shoshonean (Numic) groups came in.” (page 6). One monograph by Florence Hawley Ellis. Copy 2 is inscribed by Ellis, her signature on cover.
