Notes: Coas Monograph No. 3.   In 1966, then-president of the Archaeological Society of New Mexico, proposed a state-wide rock art survey.  That survey progressed but slowly, primarily because of the magnitude of the task, and the lack of formal procedures on how to “record” rock art.  Bain’s 1975 pamphlet was the first to offer beginning procedures that would meet Museum of New Mexico standards.  Remember, this was almost 50 years ago.  For a look at how things are done today, see  https://shumla.org/research/the-shumla-method/.   Those almost 50 year old procedures seem as dated as the rock art itself.  VERY RARE.  NO copies available for sale.
