Notes:  Copán, on the Honduras/Guatemala border and in the far southeast of the Maya cultural region, flourished from the 5th to the 9th centuries A.D., though it had an approximately 2000 year history.  At its peak it probably had a population of 20,000 and covered an area of approximately 100 square miles.  Sylvanus Morley called Copán “the Athens of the New World.”  Basically a history of Copán and the Maya, along with architecture, sculpture, artifacts, and reconstruction efforts.  Lots of photos (black-and-white, color), drawings (black-and-white, color), charts of rulers, the Maya calendar, stellae translations.  Very National Geographic-ish, but more technical.  Well done.
