Condition: Fair to Good.  Binding tight.  No marks, tears, bends or folds.  This report was excised from a hardcover copy of the 1892 Annual Report of the Smithsonian Institution.  That hardcover was falling apart but I salvaged this report and a couple of others and had them rebound individually in paperback.

Notes: Pamphlet.  This is the text of a lecture delivered by Wilson.  Wilson started his career as a buggymaker, became a lawyer, fought in the Civil War, and came to Washington “to settle his accounts.”  He practiced law in Washington, was appointed as consul to Belgium, then France.  His archaeological interests were all avocational, beginning with the prehistoric mound cultures of Ohio, his birthplace.  On returning from France he was appointed “Curator of Archaeology” for the Smithsonian Institution (only in America could this happen).  The “Primitive Industry” Wilson is lecturing about is the manufacture of prehistoric stone tools and weapons throughout Europe and the United States.
