Notes: Pan-European.  Undoubtedly a revised dissertation, and I’ve marked it as such.  From 10,000 years ago to the Prehistoric Era.  Here’s to that first person who said (or muttered or mumbled in whatever language) “Hey, I’m staying here.  There are things growing here and I can eat them.  And grow them.  You guys go on ahead without me.”  We all owe that person a debt.
