Notes: One volume of a 5 volume series on the distinctive physiographic regions of Colorado–Plains, Mountains, Northwest, West Central, and Southwest–and their archaeological and historical resources.   Three boundaries of the study area are easily recognizable–the Wyoming and Utah state lines as the northern and western boundaries, and the Colorado River as the southern boundary.  The eastern boundary is a hodge-podge.  There are four physiographic provinces within the study area–the Colorado Plateau, the Wyoming Basin, the Yampa Basin, and the Middle Rocky Mountains.
