According to our present information they appear to have been the discoverers of glass somewhere around the year 1500 B.C. though there remains the suspicion–it is no more than that–that North Syria may have preceded them in that field, a belief that can be supported only by future excavations.” (Glass Sculpture in Ancient Egypt, John D.
