Notes: Papers of the New World Archaeological Foundation Number Thirty. Low relief standing sculptures in the ruins of Izapa, near Tapachula, Chiapas. The area was occupied from about 1500 B.C. through the Postclassic period (about 1000 A.D.). Full page black-and-white photographs of the principal carved monuments on the left page, and the same photograph with outlines of the figures on the opposite page. Very little text (descriptions in Part 2). While the photos of the actual monuments may be hard to decipher, the outlines bring the monument to life. Post-Olmec, pre-Maya.
