Notes: Hampton’s revised doctoral dissertation, achieved at age 69.  Hampton worked professionally as a geologist, and after being sent to Indonesia by his employer, began studying the Dani, an indigenous tribe in Irian Jaya, to see how they acquired their stone, what kinds of stone they used, and how they knew the stone’s uses.
