Notes: Conference papers. Di Peso (1920-1982) spent most of his professional career at the Amerind Foundation (Dragoon, AZ), a private archaeological research facility founded in 1937. Di Peso’s “Gran Chichimeca” extended on a line from San Francisco, CA to Wichita, KS, south to the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, west through the Baja peninsula, then north to San Francisco, an area of approximately 170 million square kilometers. His fame rests on “Casas Grandes: A Fallen Trading Center of the Gran Chichimeca” (see https://joethebookguy.com/shop/archaeology/casas-grandes-a-fallen-trading-center-of-the-gran-chichimeca-3-volume-set/ ).
