Description

Author: Lister, Robert H. (1915-1990)

Publisher: El Mexico Antiguo (Mexico)

Pub Date: 1941

Binding: Paperback

Condition: 2 copies.  Copy 1 (FL): Poor.  There really is no binding to speak of, no covers, no staples, though I’m not sure this was not the way the pamphlet was intended to look.  Spine edge has approx 5″ tear, but that only affects the first leaf (“cover” and blank endpaper). Upper spine edge has approx. 1″ tear, again affecting only the first leaf.  Second leaf (pp. 209-212) separated.  Edge and corner wear.  No markings.  Page 218 is followed by page 119 (the page is correct, it’s just an incorrect page number).  Now in a plastic sheet protector.  Copy 2 (FL): Fair.  Stapled binding.  No marks, tears.  This was undoubtedly excised from a bound paperback volume.  Edge and corner wear.  No covers.  Now in plastic sheet protector.

Notes: Pamphlet.  Tomo V, Numero 7-10, Junio 1941 (Volume 5, Number 7-10, June 1941).    “Oztuma was apparently one of the several military colonies that the Aztecs established in the fifteenth century along the southwestern border of their territory.” (Page 215).   Lister, in an expedition with Donald Brand in 1939 (probably as a graduate student), spent two and half days studying the site and examining the most important structures and terraces.  This was probably written as a graduate level paper.  VERY RARE.  Often cited, but NO copies available, and NO copies listed in OCLC.  These may be the last/only two copies in existence (until you can find the specific volume of El Mexico Antiguo.
