Notes: 4 volcanic eruptions (from what is now known as Volcan San Marcelino) in the Zapotitán valley over the last 2000 years caused major impacts to the Mayan civilization, including one in the sixth or seventh century that created “The Ceren Site”, a Central American Pompeii (on a much smaller scale).
