Condition: Fair.  Paper tape binding tight but wearing at spine head and foot.  No tears, bends, folds.  Previous owner’s stamp on upper corner ffep/titile page.  Text on one side of each page.  Foxing to upper and recto edges front cover.  One small spot about the size of a pen point on lower front cover.  Upper front cover corner at spine head has an approx. 1/2″ tear in paper tape binding.  Wear to mid-spine.  Wear to spine foot.  Spotting (dirt? insects?) on upper rear cover edge.  Smudging, spotting, foxing to upper and verso edge rear cover.  Very much a 1970s style typescript.

Notes: Research Records Number 6.   A two season study of an area 30-50 north of Phoenix (in 1976), a transition zone “…from the desert floor to the plateau between the Lower Sonoran and Upper Sonoran zones….there is a great deal of cultural diversity with evidence of Puebloan peoples in the north of the study area, an undescribed cultural manifestation in the transition zone and Hohokam in the southern portion of the test area. ” (From the Introduction) “…an array of problems regarding various cultural strategies in this environmentally diverse area.  These studies were aimed at delineating the hydrological, geological and biological subareas in the study zone and correlating the natural environment with the cultural manifestations, especially the subsistence strategies of the cultural groups.  Because the area is semi-arid, special emphasis was placed on water control systems.” (ibid.)
