Notes:  El Paso Centennial Museum Publications in Anthropology No. 5.   159 sites of varying sizes were found in the area surveyed, though it was estimated there could have been anywhere from 400 to 800 sites in that stretch of the Rio Grande.   Apache and Suma Indians were known to occupy the area at various times and in varying population densities.  Mexican and American soldiers also passed through the area and established temporary sites.)
