Notes: Archaeological Series 162.  Volume 5 of a 7 volume set.  All volumes sold separately.  “Because irrigation agriculture was of obvious importance at Las Colinas, consideration of one of the basic variables mentioned above–water–is directed at Salt River streamflow, which was the single most important environmental variable in the operation of Hohokam irrigation systems.  That the amount and timing of warm-season rainfall was important for production of crops by Hohokam groups who practiced dry-land or ‘ak-chin’ farming is indisputable;  however, in the canal oriented communities of both the Salt and Gila river basins, variation in local rainfall may not have limited food production to any important degree.”  (From the Introduction)
