Description

Author: Graves, John (1920-2013)

Publisher: Texas Parks and Wildlife

Pub Date: 2002

Binding: Hardcover

Condition: Book: Good.  Binding tight.  No marks, tears, bends or folds.  Embossed front board and spine (you NEVER see that).   Gutters in the front and rear endpapers show a glue bleed through, and rear pastedown has an approx. “C” shaped wrinkle (all printer faults).  Dust Jacket: Good.  NOT price clipped (no price indicated).  Very light edge and corner wear.  In mylar.

Notes: Large format color photography by Wyman Meinzer.  I hesitate to call this a reprint but Graves (Goodbye to a River), in the “Preparatory Note”, says “The chapters, together with many of the photographs, were first published as a series of articles in Texas Parks & Wildlife magazine during a period of about three years.” (p. 6).  Maybe “Compilation” is a better term.   Not a comprehensive volume of Texas rivers, only the rivers that flow “within” Texas–the Canadian, Lower Neches, Pecos, Llano, the Clear Fork of the Brazos, and the Upper Sabinal.  Personally I think the author and photographer were just a tad intimidated by the thought of dealing with the Red and the Rio Grande.
