Condition: Fair to Good.  Binding tight.  No tears, bends or folds.  Inscribed by the author and his wife on title page.  Without dust jacket.  Very light edge and corner wear.  Gilt on front board still sharp, easily readable, while gilt on spine slightly faded.  Title on front board and title page are slightly different.

Notes: Kuhler was born in Germany, served in the German army during World War I, and emigrated with his wife to the United States in 1923.  He worked as a industrial designer, primarily for the railroads but also for automobile companies and magazines.   If you think of those super-sleek engines you’re probably looking at a Kuhler design.   Later in his life he became a prolific artist, of railroads and western scenery, of industrial locations and landscapes.  He and his wife Simonne lived in Santa Fe for eight years.  He is enshrined in the National Railroad Hall of Fame.  The book is inscribed and signed by both Otto and Simonne Kuhler  (several signed copies available, but NONE with Simonne’s signature, thus RARE) to Bob Lister (see photo).  Lots of photos and art.
