Condition: Fair.  Stapled binding tight, but staples rusting, staining cover and pages at staples.  One very small chip at lower front cover edge.  Upper and lower front cover corners have small folds (each approx. 1/16-1/8″).   Previous owners’ stamps on front and rear covers and inside front cover, including a date stamp on cover.  Stapled to title page is a description paper, with author, title, publisher, pub date, and category listing, almost as if it came from a library, in this case probably a personal library (see Notes below).  Pages 7-8 have an approx. 1/4″ tear at edge, and pages 9-10 have edge wear in the same area as the tear on page 8.  Sun fading to spine, upper front edge and front and rear spine edges.

Notes: Pamphlet.  RARE.  From the library of Charles H. Lange (author of Cochiti, and others) with his name stamp on cover (and “Entered” date, and probably the stapled paper on title page), and then belonging to his son Richard.  Prince was the 14th territorial governor of New Mexico, from 1889-1893.  According to Robert Julyan’s The Place Names of New Mexico (see https://joethebookguy.com/shop/indian/the-place-names-of-new-mexico/ ),  “(Kearney) named the fort for William L. Marcy , at the time (1846) serving as Secretary of War under President Polk.”   A descriptive and historical view of Santa Fe at the time of New Mexico statehood.
