Notes: Museum of Northern Arizona Bulletin No. 47. Conference papers. The Chinle Formation was first described in 1917. It includes the Petrified Forest, the Painted Desert, Zuni Mountains, the Chama Basin, Ghost Ranch, Zion and Bryce Canyon, and Monument Valley, with several outliers in western and southwestern Colorado. Nice chapter on how the nomenclature of the Formation changed from the 1850s to the 1950s. Lots of small fossils, very few large ones.
